Rooted Literacy provides thorough reading evaluations by testing targeted literacy components. We then cite specific conclusions and tutoring goals in a thorough written report. Our tutoring sessions are conducted focusing on specific and measurable objectives. For current clients of record, our testing results and recommendations are presented in educational planning meetings upon request.
Evaluations and Recommendations
The purpose of this hour long evaluation is to determine a child's specific areas of strength and weakness. The results guide us to give targeted recommendations. We test the 5 components of literacy instruction: phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension. We provide the results to parents in a written report that concludes with our recommendations.
The cost of this evaluation is $250.
Tutoring Sessions
Based on the specific areas of weakness found in our evaluation, we focus each session on progress toward age/grade appropriate goals. Each session has a specific goal and purpose and results of a student's progress are measured along the way. Sessions are generally an hour long. It is recommended that students have at least 1 session (but often times 2 sessions) weekly to achieve desired goals. The cost of each tutoring session is $90.
Consultation
From time to time, collaboration is warranted to discuss what is best for a particular student. In a school setting, this is called an Individual Education Plan (IEP) meeting. Rooted Literacy can be available to share our testing results for these meetings with the purpose of sharing areas of strength and weakness found in our initial and ongoing evaluations. We can also provide work samples from our weekly sessions. The cost of this service is $75.
